Cinderella had a Fairy Godmother and so should you when it comes to planning your next vacation to Disney! Consider your Disney Travel Agent your Disney Vacation Fairy Godmother!

A lot of time people think just by simply visiting Walt Disney World it’s going to be a magical time for their family, and I hate to break it to you, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. I’ve heard far too often from folks who had a hard time enjoying themselves because they were overwhelmed with the options and not familiar with the parks, best rides to do, what dining options they had, etc.

So here are my TOP 12 REASONS TO BOOK YOUR NEXT WALT DISNEY WORLD VACATION WITH A DISNEY TRAVEL AGENT TO INSURE A MAGICAL TRIP!

1. Use A Travel Agent That Specializes in Disney Destinations for STRESS-FREE VACATION PLANNING

While any Travel Agent can book Disney Destination packages, not every agent is knowledgeable on the ins & outs or logistics of Disney. Make sure you find someone who specializes in Disney like myself. Here’s what I like to call my Disney Resume…

  • I graduated from the College of Disney Knowledge. What does that mean? I received my certification to specialize in ALL Disney Destinations including:
    • Walt Disney World Resort Orlando
    • Disneyland Resort California
    • Disney Cruise Line
    • Aulani Resort Hawaii
    • Adventures By Disney
  • I am a 10 Year Annual Passholder and lifetime Disney go-er. Although my College of Disney Knowledge certification is pretty neat, a lot of my Disney knowledge comes from my own personal experiences and vacations to Disney Parks and on Disney Cruises.
  • My husband and I were married and honeymooned at Walt Disney World Resort Orlando. Our rehearsal dinner was held at the Living Seas in Epcot, our ceremony was in Disney’s Wedding Pavilion, and our reception was held at the Grand Floridian! #bestweekendever
  • FUN FACT: My husband, our two kiddos, and myself were actually featured in Disney’s International campaign “Wonder Happens Here”. It was our 15 seconds of Disney Fame! Wanna Check us out? Here ya go: Disney’s Wonder Happens Here

As you can see, for most Disney Travel Agents, our knowledge of all things Disney goes beyond our education and stems a lot from our personal experiences. If you’d like yours truly to plan your next Disney Destination Vacation, I’d love to help! Fill out the contact form at the bottom of this page and I’ll send some pixie dust your way!

2. Disney Travel Agents Have a “Disney Degree”

Like myself, Disney Travel Agents have successfully passed all College of Disney Knowledge courses and have to get recertified each year. Disney Destinations are constantly changing; whether it be new rides opening, hotel refurbishments, restaurant openings, or even discount releases, these are some of the many things Disney Travel Agents stay “in the know” about and pass along to their clients. The last thing you want is to arrive at your resort to find out the pool is closed for refurbishment or even worse, find out you paid too much for your Disney vacation because there was a discount code you could’ve used to save money.

3. Gifts, Credits, Gift Cards Oh My!

Not all agents do this, but I like to go above and beyond for my guests to show my appreciation for trusting me to make their Disney vacation magical and memorable! Some of the things I like to do are have a special treat waiting in the hotel room when guests arrive, maybe even send a care package from Mickey prior to their trip or send a Disney e-gift card to use on vacation! Or perhaps if they’re sailing on a Disney Cruise, supply them with an onboard credit! Whatever it may be, I like to spread a little extra pixie dust for my clients!

4. We Save You Money- Seriously.

One common misconception is that booking a Disney vacation through a travel agent is more expensive than booking direct. This is not true at all. The price you pay for a Disney vacation package, hotel room, park ticket, etc., regardless of where it is booked, is the same price across the board. I repeat it costs nothing extra nor is the price increased to have a Disney Travel Agent book your Disney Vacation.

However, booking your vacation with a Disney Travel Agent can possibly save you some serious dinero. Here’s how….

Disney often releases travel discounts throughout the year saving you various, yet substantial, amounts on things like rooms, park tickets, vacation packages, and dining. There are times when these aren’t always publicized, but we have the ability to view and find them for you.

Even If you book your package and/or room prior to the discount being released, you can still take advantage of the discounts released. Your Disney Travel Agent will apply the discount to your package as soon as the promotion is released. You do not have to do anything. No matter how far in advance your vacation is, it’s always recommended to put a deposit down on your room and/or vacation package even if discounts have not been released yet so you secure your room to avoid the hotel of your choosing being sold out.

There’s no need to search the blogs or Disney’s site for discount offers, as your agent will monitor this for you. You do not have to call Disney to apply the promotion when it is released; your agent takes care of this. Sometimes this process can take hours on the phone. Hours that your agent handles instead of YOU.

5. We Provide Premium Concierge Services

There are some Disney Travel Agents that charge planning or concierge fees for their services and itinerary planning, I however do not.

Some common benefits to using a Disney Travel Agent in the Disney vacation planning process include:

  • Free travel quotes
  • Build a custom itinerary
  • Detailed Dining Plan explanations
  • Make all recommendations and reservations
  • Assistance in choosing a package, hotel, and park tickets
  • Park navigation assistance
  • Character location
  • Insider tips and tricks
  • Magical Express Scheduling
  • Airport Transfer Booking (Limousine or towncars)
  • Stroller / Scooter rentals
  • Grocery delivery orders
  • Scheduling Childcare at Pixar Play Zone/babysitting services
  • Assistance with Birthday/Anniversary Celebrations
  • Booking Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique/Pirates League/Specialty Cruises
  • VIP Tour Scheduling
  • Scheduling Golf tee times
  • Scheduling Spa Treatments
  • Assistance with runDisney (some agents specialize in this area of travel)

6. Extensive Knowledge of Disney Parks and Resorts

An experienced Disney Travel Agent can help you find the perfect resort to fit for your family while staying within your budget. With over 25 Resort Hotels on site at Walt Disney World, the options can be incredibly overwhelming. Based on your lifestyle and vacation preferences, a knowledgeable Disney Travel Agent can recommend the best hotel to fit your family.

Maybe you’ve heard of this really cool resort on Disney property where the monorail drives straight through it (The Contemporary Resort), but you’re not sure that it’s in your price range? If your dates are flexible, an agent can help you find dates when rates are the lowest at certain hotels.

All it takes to reserve your Disney Vacation package is $200 bucks, then you just make payments prior to your vacation. This is obviously great news because it allows you to plan ahead of time and prioritize a budget for your vacation… and let’s be honest, not having to pay for everything upfront is pretty sweet!

7. We Save You Loads of Time (And Headaches)

There are multiple components to planning a Disney Vacation, picking your travel dates and selecting your hotel are just the tip of the iceberg.

There are so many variables to consider when planning your vacation: How many days do we want to spend in the parks? Is the park hopper option right for our trip? What the hell is a park hopper? Do we want to schedule a pool day at our resort? What else is there to do besides the theme parks? Where can we meet the characters? My kids are picky and my spouse likes seafood- where should we eat?

At this point, I think it’s easy to see why the knowledge of a Disney Expert is highly beneficial. These are  just some of the many details we work out behind the scenes to make sure your vacation meets your family’s needs and expectations. We know the right questions to ask, so the planning process is effortless and stress free.

At the end of the day, you can read blogs and books, search Facebook groups, or ask your friends what they suggest for your trip and you’re probably going to receive 101 different answers and recommendations and still be left overwhelmed. Not to mention, one person might love a particular restaurant, but it might not be another’s cup of tea. Ultimately, you have to decide what is right for your family.

8. We Are Dining Reservation Wizards

Advanced Dining Reservations- known to the pro’s as ADR’s- are a pivotal part to any Disney Vacation especially if you’re in the market for character dining experiences. Your dining reservations can be booked 180 days in advance and although that seems super far in the future, it is a necessity especially if you’re looking to book one of the hot dining spots- Cinderella’s Royal Table to be specific. Advanced Dining Reservations are also super important if you’re going to utilize the Disney Dining Plan or Deluxe Disney Dining Plan.

In short, for folks who add a dining plan to their vacation, this basically means your food is included in your vacation price. Sort of like an all-inclusive package- the only thing you pay for at the restaurant is the gratuity. There are different levels of the dining plan depending on if you just want quick meals on the go or sit-down dining reservations or character dining experiences. As a Disney Travel Agent, I help my clients/guests determine the dining style they’d prefer and what will work best to fit their budget and itinerary. Sometimes a dining plan isn’t always the best option.

As an agent, I find out what your family likes and dislikes, as well as, if there are any dietary restrictions within your party and then I make all dining reservations to fit the logistics of your itinerary and your palette.

9. My Disney Experience Account and Creation

Consider your My Disney Experience account/mobile app your one stop shop for your entire vacation. Everything you could possibly need before and during your vacation is located in one convenient spot. Your hotel reservation, park tickets, fast passes and dining reservations are all accessible and modifiable in the My Disney Experience app. So, if you want to change a dining reservation or update a FastPass, you can do so all within the app! Also within the app, you can search park hours and ride wait times, as well as, access any photos you’ve had taken by a Disney photographer around the parks.

As a Disney Travel Agent, I create your My Disney Experience account and link ALL reservations and plans to your account.

10. FastPass+ Assistance and Selections

I’m sure you’ve heard the word “FastPass” at least a dozen times if you’ve even remotely looked into taking a Disney Vacation. Good news… as confusing as they might be, don’t worry I’ve got your back. FastPass selections come free with your Disney reservation and can be booked 60 days in advance if you’re staying at one of the Walt Disney World Resort hotels and 30 days in advance if you’re staying in an offsite hotel. Piece of advice- if you’re dying to ride Flight Of Passage (the Avatar ride) or Slinky Dog Dash in Toy Story Land, the only shot you’ve got is to stay in an onsite Disney hotel and be ready to select your FastPass right at 7:00am on day 60 prior to your trip.

That’s where I come in, I take care of all FastPass planning and selections for my clients. I always find out prior to FastPass selection day what types of rides the family likes or if there’s a character or movie they love and book FastPasses accordingly. Three FastPasses can be booked per day at a single day. Pro Tip- a 4th FastPass can be added once the first 3 FastPasses have been utilized.

11. You Have One Go-To Person Throughout The Entire Planning Process

When you book your Disney vacation with a Disney Travel agent, that person will be your point of contact for any and all questions, recommendations, and brain-picking sessions. Disney Travel Agents work directly with Disney to plan your vacation and cover all the magical details!

If you were to book directly through Disney, any time you have a question or even just need to get an opinion about your trip you’d have to call Disney and speak to a different Disney Cast Member each time and will usually spend some time on hold until a Cast Member becomes available to speak with you. You just simply can’t beat the personal relationship and convenience of having your own travel agent at your fingertips to call or text anytime you need.

12. We Are Your Emergency Contact During Travel

Sometimes emergencies happen while on vacation. It’s no fun to talk about, but it happens from time to time. When you book with a Disney Travel Agent, they’re your point man that works their magic behind the scenes on your behalf so you have peace of mind. I can assure you if you try to book your vacation through discount stores like Sams or Costco, they will not be there to pick up the phone to help in case of emergency.

So, I’m sure you’re reading this post and asking yourself 2 things: 1- “I had no idea a Disney Travel Agent did all of that stuff!” and 2- “How the heck do they get paid if it’s a free service?” I’m all about transparency, so here’s how… I get paid a commission from Disney to help people book their vacations. Instead of employing thousands of people to provide the amount of services a Disney Travel Agent does (which would require a lot of man power and a hefty salary payroll) and to prevent clogging their already busy phone lines with a million and one questions from future guests, Disney utilizes Authorized Disney Vacation Planners like myself to plan and book Disney vacations for guests.

At this point you might be saying “yeah but I bet the trip prices are higher to account for agent commissions rather than if I just booked it myself on-line”. Good news partner, there are no inflated costs associated with a Disney Travel Agent booking your Disney vacation. The price you see is the price you get. Disney does not increase the price of a vacation a Disney Travel Agent books to accommodate for commissions. Believe it or not, Disney already accounts for commissions in their pricing structure and either Disney pockets that additional commission amount or they pay it to an Independent Agent like myself to book your vacation and provide personalized concierge level service that they otherwise simply don’t have the man power to provide.

So quick recap… it costs you ABSOLUTELY ZERO DOLLARS for a Disney Travel Agent like myself to do EVERYTHING mentioned in this article when planning your next Disney Vacation. And being totally honest, we are deal hunting, bargain shopping machines that will find you the absolute best deal possible and will more than likely save you money, than if you booked it yourself.

So, after reading this article are you having serious buyers’ remorse because you already booked your Disney vacation? Feeling overwhelmed or worried you paid too much?

GOOD NEWS! If it has been less than 30 days since you booked your trip, you can fill out a quick form and have your Disney reservation transferred to an agent!

As I said in the beginning of this article, Authorized Disney Vacation Planners are trained and certified in ALL Disney locations… not just Walt Disney World Orlando! So, if you’re looking to take trip to Disneyland California, visit Disney’s Aulani Resort in Hawaii, set sail on a Disney Cruise, or explore Adventures By Disney, we’ve got you covered on those destinations too!
